My name is Ricardo Mata, and I bring with me over 30 years of experience dedicated to teaching the classical guitar and the Portuguese guitar. My teaching approach is grounded in a solid foundation of classical training, combined with the expressive richness and oral tradition of the Portuguese guitar — an instrument deeply rooted in the Portuguese popular soul.

Over the past decades, I have had the privilege of teaching hundreds of students from different parts of the world, each with diverse musical tastes and goals. This experience has allowed me to develop not only a structured and effective method, but also a refined sensitivity to understand the unique needs of each student.

My mission is to provide personalized teaching that respects each student’s pace, combining technique, expression, and the joy of playing. If you are looking to grow with clarity, passion, and authenticity, it will be my pleasure to guide you on this musical journey.
